Hi,
We came across this issue because when we try to export to our accounting program we face serious difficulties because of the number formatting options available.
Allow me to elaborate:
When you go to System Settings > Currencies
and in our case, EURO, you have 4 options for the number format:
- 1234.56
- 1,234.56
- 1.234,56
- 1,234
It happens that In most of the world except US, UK and a few other countries, the correct decimal symbol is a comma ( , ) and the thousand separator should be either a thin space or nothing at all.
Should be, because it is stated on the Resolution 10 of the 22nd General Conference of Weights and Measures (2003), which "reaffirms that 'Numbers may be divided in groups of three in order to facilitate reading: neither dots nor commas are ever inserted in the spaces between groups', as stated in Resolution 7 of the 9th CGPM, 1948".
This is an international accord and despite being a few countries that don't comply, we strongly believe that WHMCS being an app available for companies all around the world, should at least include the compliant options: 1 234,56
or 1234,56
. Thank you.
